The IEEE Internet Inclusion Advancing Solutions
netCommons was at the IEEE Internet Inclusion WS in Washington, D.C., during two days of events on 24 April and 25 April.
Roger Baig from netCommons and guifi.net is chairing the "Community Networks" working group. Together with Leandro Navarro they participated in the event. This is part of a series of multistakeholder events have outlined definitive opportunities to accelerate progress in meaningfully connecting the estimated 60 percent of the global population that remains unconnected around the world.
In the final summary reports Vint Cerf mentioned the importance of community networks in addressing this problem and how important is to work to remove obstacles that prevent the development of community networks are crucial to give people the opportunity to expand and join the public Internet.
